full time missions
I think that whenever this phrase is said the first thing our mind goes to is someone living overseas on a foreign land. Which is very true, I’m not trying to make it seem like what they’re doing is incorrect. It takes a lot of faith and trust in the Lord to be able to be able to do that, and honestly, I pray the Lord would use me in that way. Missions is a huge part of my testimony and there is something so special about being used on an overseas mission trip or living there. The whole purpose of this post is to acknowledge that every believer is called to full time missions whether it’s here in America or 5,000 miles away on the other side of the world.
Mission trips are extremely powerful if you take the focus off of yourself. We are called to tell of the Lord’s salvation, because without His, ours is nothing. One of my favorite quotes that I heard in a podcast or read in a book is, “every step you take is made within the mission field.” WOW. The gospel is a conversation that can and needs to be brought into every space. Whether that be at work, school, or even at home, the Lord has a divine appointment set up in every space you enter.
When we wake up every day we should always be in a missional mindset. Hope is needed everywhere, and when we go somewhere new there’s a great chance that the hope of the Lord can be seen through us. You have to get uncomfortable in these situations , but some of the greatest testimonies come from us being uncomfortable.
Hope is what we hold onto. We hope for a better world, we hope for a better family life, we hope for the things we long to experience. We have these desires planted in our hearts for a reason. One day we will see them come into fruition, whether it’s how we expected it or not, if the Lord is behind it, know it is being played out exactly as it needs to be.
Without our hope rooted in Jesus, it essentially becomes hopelessness. He has given us all the things we need, we have nothing to compare to give to Him because we will always fall short to His standards and even our own. Everything that He has given us is to be used to bring glory back to Him. When we make it our goal to bring Him glory in every circumstance, His hope, love, joy, and acceptance will be shown through you.
Make it your goal to exude the characteristics of the father. Ask Him the areas in your life you could shift to align with who He has created you to be for His kingdom, and how he can use you to bring the gospel to the people right in front of you.
“Sing to the Lord, all the earth! Tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples.” 1 Chronicles 16:23-24
It’s one of my favorite things when exclamation points are used in scripture. It emphasizes the joy in it, and the joy that you have the potential to experience through it. Ask the Lord to use you right where you’re at, I promise he will place someone on your heart to minister to, and you will see your desire to grow to share of the goodness he has to offer, and we have the privilege to accept.
